The skateboard industry changed in 1988. Two skateboard legends Mike Vallely and Rodney Mullen teamed up with some guy name Steve Rocco to form World Industries. This company launch with amazing art and a street skating first (more like only) attitude. The art work of Marc Mckee as progress and very thought provoking.

Mike and Rodney both changed the shape and function of modern decks. Noses got bigger and boards got narrower. Rodney in a way was skating popsicle shaped decks since the 80's. His freestyle deck was the templet for the future. Mike Vallely Barnyard shape was the beginning of modern street deck design.

This is what many of you now refer to as a shaped deck.
