Chrome OS key commands

Here’s a list of useful Chrome OS key commands (keyboard shortcuts):

System Navigation

  • Search for apps/files/settings: Search or Launcher key
  • Open Task Manager: Search + Esc
  • Take a screenshot: Ctrl + Show Windows (or F5 on an external keyboard)
  • Take a partial screenshot: Ctrl + Shift + Show Windows
  • Open Settings: Alt + Shift + S
  • Lock Screen: Search + L
  • Open File Manager: Search + E

Window Management

  • Toggle full-screen mode: F4 or Fullscreen key
  • Switch to the next window: Alt + Tab
  • Dock window to the left/right: Alt + [ or Alt + ]
  • Minimize window: Alt + -
  • Maximize window: Alt + =
  • Close current window: Ctrl + Shift + W

Accessibility

  • Enable ChromeVox (Screen Reader): Ctrl + Alt + Z
  • Enable/Disable Caps Lock: Alt + Search
  • Zoom in: Ctrl + +
  • Zoom out: Ctrl + -
  • Reset zoom to default: Ctrl + 0

Miscellaneous

  • Check keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl + Alt + /
  • Launch Shelf apps (by number): Alt + 1-8 (corresponding to their position on the Shelf)
